MySQL Connector/Python enables Python programs to access MySQL databases, using an API that is compliant with the Python DB API version 2.0. It is written in pure Python and does not have any dependencies except for the Python Standard Library.

For release notes detailing the changes in each release of Connector/Python, see MySQL Connector/Python Release Notes.

MySQL Connector/Python includes support for:

MySQL Connector/Python 1.1 supports Python from version 2.6 through 2.7, and Python 3.1 and later. MySQL Connector/Python 1.0 supports Python from version 2.4 through 2.7, and Python 3.1 and later. Note that Connector/Python does not support the old MySQL Server authentication methods, which means that MySQL versions prior to 4.1 will not work.
